To obtain an account in ELIAS, please contact the user administrator at your higher education institution.

After your account has been created by the user administrator, you will receive an e-mail with a registration link. This link is valid for 24 hours. The e-mail also contains instructions on how to activate your account.

After successful activation, you can log in to the system with your e-mail address and the password you have assigned.

Note: An account via a functional e-mail address (e.g. akkreditierung@musterhochschule. de) instead of personal accounts can allow any number of people at your higher education institution to access ELIAS.

Accredited higher education institutions are defined as
– System-accredited higher education institutions
– Higher education institutions accredited according to Alternative Procedures
– Higher education institutions accredited on the basis of the experimentation clause (old law)

The entry of internal (re)accreditations by accredited higher education institutions is possible even if the accreditation history of a study programme has not yet been fully mapped/corrected.

The registration is NOT an application for program accreditation. Only the current accreditation information of a study programme is transmitted. The data is formally checked and approved by the Head Office. The content of the information is not checked.

The following process description explains the recording of fulfillment of conditions by accredited higher education institutions. The prerequisite for this is that the accreditations of the study programmes concerned were carried out as part of the internal accreditation of your higher education institution.

ELIAS offers the possibility to export data and to use or edit it for internal purposes of the higher education institutions. A detailed process description of this function can be found here.

ELIAS offers the option of setting up a substitute function in the event of absences. The substitute has access to the messages and can respond to incoming messages.

The rights and roles system in ELIAS provides two user roles for higher education institutions, which are described in more detail in the attached document.

ELIAS offers the option of sending and receiving application-related messages. The attached process description provides an overview of how to use the message function.

ELIAS offers the option of storing up to three contact persons per application. In addition, applications can be made visible to registered users throughout the university. This process description explains the two procedures.

If the reaccreditation procedure for the internal accreditation of a study programme at an accredited higher education institution is delayed, or if the decision on reaccreditation with the corresponding Quality Reports is not completed until after the existing accreditation has expired, the higher education institution can select the study programme(s) concerned in a newly created application in ELIAS and have it “automatically” extended as part of an ongoing procedure until the internal reaccreditationdecision is made. Initial and concept accreditations cannot be extended for the time being.

This does not extend the validity period of the accreditation. The reaccreditation will/should therefore be registered retroactively by the higher education institution in the event of success. The automatic extension is based on a combination of § 26 para. 2 and para. 3 MRVO. Section 26 para. 2 MRVO stipulates an “uninterrupted follow-up accreditation” as a standard; section 26 para. 3 sentence 3 MRVO indicates the intention that delays at this stage should not be at the expense of higher education institutions and graduates.

The entry of an ongoing accreditation procedure indicates in the public view that a study programme whose accreditation period is due to expire (shortly) is already undergoing a reaccreditation procedure.

Accredited higher education institutions can use this function to enter their internal deadline extensions in the Accreditation Council database (provisional extensions in the ongoing reaccreditation procedure are not affected by this, as these are counted towards the reaccreditation of the respective study programme – see ELIAS FAQ 11).
